Live Right ...Eat Right

Tonight during church we continued our study about Christian Disciplines. The pastor used an example of the food pyramid to help us understand the importance of practicing our faith. When attempting to live a healthy life we have things we must do. We must eat right and exercise. That sounds easy enough but it is very difficult. It requires many times getting some exercise early in the morning or late at night. When sleep sounds and feels so good one must drag themselves out of bed for exercise. Eating right in today’s world is actually harder than it seems. Why is that? Well there are lots of reasons but it is more expensive to eat right. Isn’t that the most ridiculous thing you have heard?

Anyway living out the Christian life can be the same way. It takes dedication, practice and determination. It sometimes requires doing things that don’t seem natural. We have to get up early some mornings just to read and pray. We might spend a week of vacation on the mission field rather than the beach. The thing is as we continue on (failing many times) we become more spiritually fit. Things become more natural and we really experience life in its fullest.

12 Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. 13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. (Phil 2:12-13)
