A simple man with a simple plan.

I was teaching the youth last night and we came to a passage that spoke to me. We were looking at some teachings that Jesus was doing. It was stuff such as parables of the mustard seeds, wheat, pearl merchants and others. Then I noticed right after his teaching the leaders rejected him. One of the phrases they used was "we know him...He is just a carpenter". Of course that is my paraphrased version but the saying is close.

Then I thought Jesus used simple applicable teachings to that we could relate. He didn't come to confuse us. It wasn't as if he spoke like Descartes, Kant, Hegel or any other philosophers. He very well could have but he wanted to communicate the truths so that ALL could understand. In fact salvation is so simple. The thief on the cross is proof of that. Yet in our human minds the simple is complex. We have made reading the word, prayer and salvation hard for the average everyday Joe or Sue to understand. We talk in riddles and phrases that is Christian lingo. Jesus didn't use those he used the simple.

Jesus was a simple man with a simple plan...Showing us to the father and making the way.
