The test at Moriah

Genesis 22:1-2
1 Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!”
“Here I am,” he replied.

2 Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”

At Moriah Abraham would have his faith tested in a way he had never seen before. God told him to take his Son Isaac and sacrifice him. You can only imagine Abrahams stomach sunk deep into his body. Looking back and not remembering the story we would think Abraham would not make it on this one. Abrahams faith was shaky in life or death situations.

Here we see a different Abraham. He loads up the donkey and heads to the Mountain. Abraham was not going to let God down on this one and he remembered the Lords promise. When asked where the sacrifice was Abraham replied "8 “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” Later as he raised his knife for the sacrifice God stops Abraham. Abrahams faith is what saved his son. The sacrifice was provided by God and I can only imagine the joy Abraham and Isaac experienced.

Oh and Isaac let's not mention this to Mom...
