Today I received a call notifying me that a former youth had passed in a tragic farm accident. This is the first time in 10 years of ministry that I have lost someone that was a youth. I went to the house they were at waiting to finish all the funeral details. The whole ride to the house I am thinking to myself. What do you say? How do you minister to a family that lost a 21 year old young man? The answer never really came to me. So I went into a house filled with people that were mourning the lost of a great person. I hugged their neck let them cry on my shoulder and told them I was sorry. That is all you can do I realized. Sometimes just being that person ministers best. You don't have to have eloquent words. You just have to be there.
I went home today realizing that my children's lives are not guaranteed tomorrow. I cried going home thinking of what it would be like to hear that call. The one that let me know that one of my precious children was gone. So coming home I look at my kids in a different light. That light I will soak up EVERY bit of.
To the Glission's ...I will pray for you.
