Morning Isolation

"Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray" Mark 1:35

Last night I didn't sleep well at all. My mind raced with things to do, places I will be going, Micah's play try outs and Hannah. Of course it was easy to think about Hannah when she is sawing logs beside you.

Anyway needless to say I was up way early today. I think I might have got 3 hours of sleep if that. I get up and decide to go out on the back patio and sit. The birds were chirping and it seemed like all creation was waking up. I sit and just took it in. Then out of the corner of my eye I see Hannah come over and sit beside me. We got a blanket and just watched things in silence. Occasionally we would talk about the squirrels, birds and rabbits but mostly we just watched God's nature unfold itself. It was a great time with Hannah sitting there. I then thought to myself how great it would be if I could just spend a morning like this with Micah, Abbi and Chloe. So I have to figure out how that will work out.

After coming in and getting everyone's breakfast ready I sat down and just thought. I enjoyed that early morning time with my child. It made me forget that I hadn't slept much. It made me forget about all the things that once raced through my mind. I believe the Holy Spirit spoke to me over this. I should be spending time like that with my father every day. Just sitting in the quiet marveling at his Word and listening to him speak to me. Early in the morning Jesus got up to be with his Father. He was tired I am sure from performing miracles, teaching and training the disciples. He still got up in the still of the morning and spent time alone with God. Then he was ready for the next challenge.

Wow! God is great how he speaks to you through a variety of ways!
