A days journey where point "A" and point "B" doesn't matter.

This morning I had a song stuck in my head as often I do. It is a song by Brandon Heath labeled “Give me your eyes”. It is are really awesome song and speaks the truth of what we as Christians need to pray every minute. While Brandon was walking through an airport he was inspired to pen this song. I won’t put the song lyrics on here but here is the link to his video:

This morning I decided to read a bit about how this song could apply to me in scripture. I came across this passage: “If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person? Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” (1 John 3:17-18)

We walk around this world with our eyes opened just enough for us to get from OUR point A to point B. In God’s eyes though there are small points all throughout that line we walk. In a days time our walk may include many stops in between A and B. If you truly open your eyes I guarantee you that there are.

1.) Someone you work for or with is hurting. Maybe its time you “see”.

2.) A family member needs your help. Maybe it is time you “see”

3.) While shopping at Wal-Mart a person is having trouble getting something or holding on to something. Maybe it’s time you “see”.

4.) A young lady is crying in a hospital hallway all by herself. Maybe it’s time you “see”

I could go on and on… the point is there. It’s time we go through the day with the eyes of Jesus. Not only will there be more stops along our path but eventually you will notice that there really never was a point A and B. It is a constant journey.

I actually came across a statement after reading your blog that really was similar.

"Let my heart be broken with the things that break the heart of God"
by Robert W. Pierce

I am listening...

After reading your comments, I thought of the song: "The 21st Time", which then led me to the song: "We Are The Body". Both of these contemporary Christian songs call us look around us.

All this, after reflecting on our visit with you all on Sunday on the occasion of Micah's baptism.

During the worship service Sunday morning at Walnut, I believed something was revealed to me about how we are to worship. As you know, music has always been an integral part of my life. I find comfort in songs, the melodies and words flow together to bring a stronger message than either can do alone.

But this past Sunday morning, I felt that I something was being revealed to me like never before. You could tell that the singers and players in your choir were not just singing and playing...but worshiping...there was a joy and peace on their faces and in their voices that transmitted me to another plane of understanding. When the music had ended, Brother Jeff delivered a wonderful message that resonated in my heart. You have often heard a talented athlete, actor, musician describes as someone who has "it". "It" is used to describe the indescribable...that person with "it" is blessed with a persona that fits his or her talent and seems to be close to perfection in whatever they are doing. Well, I believe that your church has "It".
Further, I believe I was taught that the song service of a church should accomplish two things. 1) it should be a form of worship in and of itself; and 2) As the song goes "Open The Eyes of My Heart..." or, prepare us to receive the message the pastor will deliver.
That is what happened to me on Sunday morning November 9, 2008, on the occasion of the baptism of my grandson.

I've been thinking about this since we left Sunday afternoon, and I just wanted to let you know.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!
