Today we remember those lost in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. I got to looking back over my years of blogging and noticed that I never really posted anything on Sept 11th about this day. I think it is mostly because I don't really like to remember that day. I mean who really does? It was horrible, evil and vicious in nature and makes one want to puke.
So I tuck all of those feelings back into the corners of my mind and forget this day. Because if I don't images pop up in my head. The sounds of sirens, people screaming and explosions become so real again as if I was hearing it happen again. I see the fires, plumes of smoke and terror on the peoples faces. The air is so clouded with ash it is almost hard to breathe in your own home. You feel helpless, scared and angry all at once.
I don't believe I am the only one that does this. I believe today there are Americans going about their day trying there best to ignore the date. Why is this? Because we want to forget. But no matter how are we try the memories are always there. What good can we do with bad memories?
We can pray for those that lost loved ones.
We can pray for those filled with so much hate they would want to run planes into buildings.
We can reach out in anyway we can to comfort those grieving.
We can pray for our troops that are overseas trying to defeat terrorism so this won't happen again.
There are many things we can do...
The one thing we can't do is forget. So today remember those lost 9/11. Remember seeing a nation that is often divided come together in time of need. I saw terror on 9/11 but that same day I saw hope and love. People of all ages, races and backgrounds helping one another through one of Americas darkest times. As the dust fell on everyone they became all the same. It didn't matter if they were Black, White, Asian or Hispanic. The dust covered all of that. They were people in need. Everyone prayed and helped each other. Love never failed!
Christians let's remember to be that light that shines through the darkness.
