Pine Car Race

Saturday morning me and Micah headed out for his Boyscout pine car race. I am sure many of you know what that is but for those who don't it is very simple. Boys build a small car out of a block of wood. They sand it, weight it (5oz) and paint it and then put wheels on it. Then each boy gathers at the race track which is basically a hill with guides. Each boy gets a certain amount of races to determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

After that quick snooze fest I will take you with us on the race. At first I really didn't think our car was going to be that fast. After all we made it...lol! We get to the parking lot and I let Micah hold it while we walk across the pavement. I explain to him that he needs to be very careful and not drop it. He decides to climb some stairs and come back down them...and of course he drops it. I guess we built a car that would withstand a impact like that. It appeared ok so we headed back in to be weighed. It was 4.7 oz so that is good. We gather finally around the track and the races begin. I am silently saying "please....just please let him win at least one race." His first race he won. I was happy and it didn't matter to me if it went any further than that. He was excited so it was fine now. Long story short his car had 5 first place finishes, 2 second place finishes and a third. When the winners were announced Micah won 2nd place and a trophy for most realistic.

He was happy about the race and his trophy. That made the day worth while. Also we have a race event similar to this Friday night so we know we have a car that will run with the others. Just a little tweaking...lol!

lol yeah That power house will be tried again tonight. I have to put different wheels on it tonight. Our church race is a bit different and people get a bit more serious about it. So we will see.
