"Hopefully protected by my Hughes Senior Citizen status, I will venture to opine that some of our younger Hughes family members may be losing their collective minds! To wit, wont kids that get names like Caleb and Chloe hate their parents for life? Still, maybe it's a little less troublesome than a boy child being named Sue. On the other hand, he got a chance to beat up his old dad for it in the end!

As any normal father would do I went on the defensive. It is an attack on my decision making and child's name. I then posted a reply that was out of anger in which later I would delete and make a new one. Folks this is family?
Not to mention the ONLY one that took up for my post was my brother John in which I am proud of. Everyone else simply took the comment as a sarcastic remark. Here is the actually definition of sarcasm:
- A cutting, often ironic remark intended to wound.
- A form of wit that is marked by the use of sarcastic language and is intended to make its victim the butt of contempt or ridicule.
Of course everyone slammed me and let his go. I figure as a moderator of a forum one would delete such posts. Instead they decided to let me and Chloe be "the butt of contempt or ridicule."
Way to go family!
P.S. The next post I promise will be positive. LOL!!!

And, I will add that not only was John the only one to defend our choices. He seemed to be the only one that understood how inappropriate and rude the comment was. Funny how somebody with no children can seem to "get it" when most of the people on the site have children/grandchildren and basically thought it was a funny joke.
A child's name is the first gift that a parent gives a child. It is something not taken lightly or rushed into by the parents. They take care and consideration in choosing that name just as they take care and consideration when raising that child. It is important!!!
Make fun of MY name all you want to. Many people do, but don't mess with my kids!

Your grandaddy Hughes would have thought that Chloe was beautiful as is her name (especially her middle name). So, don't worry about the rest. When do you ever see those people anyways? I have closer "family" that does not share my blood or yours
Please tell me that no further comments were made on the website elsin' I will be forced to reply. I have provoked the wrath of the Hughes' once before and I will not hesitate to defend my family again. You are right about the wrath of a Mother.
