Mole Destruction

Later in the Summer I began having issues with a mole in my yard. I researched and found that moles like lawns that are lush which usually lends to more grubs and such. My lawn isn't the greenest one on the block but I keep it trimmed and edged well. Our new neighbor has his treated and it is very nice but obviously it is not conducive for moles and their destructive ways. I finally had enough this summer and tried to kill the think by stabbing the ground it was working on right as I watched. All that did was add holes in the yard and made me angry. Then when the mole moved to the front yard it was on. I went to Lowe's and bought a mole trap and poison. After dispersing the mole war materials I then lay in wait. It seemed that my poison was not working and the thing kept evading my trap. I was following the instructions and all. Then Saturday I looked out the window and noticed that mole had worked around the trap and was on his reign of tunnel terror again! I ran out there grabbed the trap, pulled it out of the ground and shoved it right over the place where I saw the mole move last. I then slammed the trigger hard to shove the spikes in the ground. Then ....nothing! Those things are faster than they look. So I removed the trap and reset it. Nursing my bruised hand from the fit of terror I was once back at square one. Then it happened. This afternoon I look and the mole had made a new tunnel system . I moved the trap to the new location and then headed to the place where he was. I started stabbing the tunnel like a mad man with a huge screw driver. That startled it and cause it to move backward. I then began to smash its tunnel little by little toward the trap. Nothing happened....I finally was about to give up when I heard. SNAP! I ran over to the trap and gave it an extra shove into the ground. After digging around the trap I found the mole. Ahhhh revenge is mine.

I was asked this weekend what is it with me and animals. Many know the all too familiar 3 year raccoon war. If not here is the link to most of that information HERE. So the answer is....I have no idea but I will not rest or give up. After many angry animal encounters I have learned to be persistent.

I will post links to the actual mole and devices of death below. I felt like not everyone wanted to see a dead mole.

October is here!

Another month has begun and it seems like September slipped away. This month is packed with youth/children's events, breaks, vacation and b-days. As I peer over my desk I see a mountain of items that need to be moved to their proper location and it seems like my office is more of a receiving room for Fedex, UPS and USPS here lately.

My latest endevor is to figure out and study a 5th-6th Ministry. Wither we as parent's like to admit it our 5th and 6th grade children are at different maturity levels that we were at their age. Labeled "Preteen" or "Tweens" we can see a visible difference. At times they seem to be childlike and do things we might have done at their age but then there are times they act more like a teenagers. What a strange spot Children's Ministries find themselves now. I will let you know how that turns out.

Things are calming down for a bit now on the home front as in our kids activities. Homework seems to be taking the place of late nights with Micah. Last night he was suppose to construct a map and make a legend. All on his own he created "Christian Island". It had places like "Baptism Lake", "Christ World" (kind of like Holiday World) and many other things. This island was cross shaped and all. I thought it was kind of neat to see him make something like that with his own mind. Me and Buffy had to color it so he could get to bed before 10.

See ya until next time...
