Tilled Soil

Tilled Soil

Yesterday Buffy called me to let me know that our net and cable was out. A white snow now plagued our TV screen. Buffy then informed me that our neighbors had tilled up the ground in their back yard. She wondered if that could have effected that cable. I assured her that the cable is deeper in the ground than that. After getting home I found out I was wrong. Now there is broken wires in the yard. So I am texting this from my phone while I watch birds peck a squirrel's head. The end of the world hasn't come for me or the squirrel. Actually I am fine but I will have to let you know later about the tree rat...the birds have called in reinforcements.

Need to rant...

I have two issues today that I feel need addressing.

1.) I watch the show Jon and Kate Plus 8. We have been faithful followers of the show from day one. It has been fun to watch the little ones grow up. One thing that has not been fun to watch over the last few years is a marriage become strained. I will be transparent with you all and say I have thought Kate has been a pill for a while now. She would constantly degrade Jon in and out of public. I haven't been a big fan of hers for awhile now. So now you see that I felt some sorrow for Jon that is where I pick up on my rant. Jon is caught with another lady outside the home at a bar. Now he claims nothing happened. Giving him the benefit of the doubt and saying he hasn't he still cheated in my book. No man should ever be alone with a woman other than his wife. Stress in a marriage does not provide an opportunity for people to "go out" with friends (ladies). Monday night I saw a woman I had never seen before in the show. She was torn, she was upset and meek. On the other hand I see Jon with half hearted apologies and total apathy toward his wife. It sickens me as a husband to see such a thing. If you have problems Jon go to counseling and pray to God for help. So now the roles are reversed for me...I have lost all respect for Jon. I know this seems trivial you all that read my blog but I just had to get it out there.

2) What is with the youth of today??? Their social networking sites are breading grounds for filth and immorality. What is sad is that they add pastors, friends, family and loved ones as friends. Those added have full right to view whatever is posted on their site. What have I found over the last few years? There are some out there that could care less about the content on their site. So what does a person do? Do you delete that person from your list or keep them on and monitor their activity? Do you condone the filth without saying anything or do you speak out? It is a huge quandary of mine. If you have the answer please tell me because I am at a loss.

Kris Allen

I know the net is flooded with the new American Idol Winner Kris Allen. I was hoping he would win in the end. The whole time we assumed Adam Lambert would win with his ability to go from a simple vocal chord to blood curdling scream in 1 second.

It seemed Idol did a good job of hiding both contestants lifestyle and backgrounds. I do believe Adam has talent but not the humbleness and morals suited for one to be and "Idol". On the other hand Kris has shown nothing but a humble mindset even once winning the event. I believe also that Kris had more musical talent than Adam. With him being able to pick up an instrument and sing at the same time. Actually taking the time to learn the notes of a song. Adam on the other hand spent his time preparing his look with a pound of make-up, Halloween costumes and perfecting the crazy eye camera look.

I had heard that Kris was a Christian but we were never allowed to see that even on his trip home for the visit while waiting for the final show. Look what I found:

Well it almost appeared Idol was shooting to get Adam a win. The last part of the competition they had a song picked for them to sing. It was "No Boundaries" that was co-written by Kara DioGuardi an Idol judge. When Adam sang it praises rained down on him from the judging panel. When Kris sang it two judges both said that the song was to high for them...one being the judge that wrote the thing. Humm.....that is odd. Then last night Kris sang his song and did well. Then later Adam's turn started off with his elevator of fireballs descending down from the roof. It was like his grand entrance onto what Idol judges assumed would be his win.

Well after all was said and done Kris (the underdog) appeared victorious. Even then his humble personality was apparent. He said that Adam deserved to be up there. I don't think he thought he was going to win. I am sure some of it was the constant barrage of "Adam is gonna win" quotes all over the net as well as the hints from the judging panel.

I don't normally post about stuff like this much. I felt compelled to share my thoughts on the subject. In a way a Modern day David defeated the Modern Day Goliath. Faith and Morals prevailed over immorality this time. Kris make us proud and keep the faith brother.

Great Weekend

  • I had a great weekend last week. After the youth coffee house meeting at Joe Muggs I headed home to be with the family. I haven't really spent enough time home here lately so it was much needed. Saturday we all went out and attempted to brave the traffic to head to the river front to the BBQ fest. We called that off once we could not come within blocks of a place to walk from. So we headed out to Panther Creek for the afternoon. I love that park for some reason and it was relaxing to sit with Buffy and watch the kids play at the playground there. Then we all went for a walk on the bridges all over the park. After strolling around the lake and feeding the ducks we headed home. After the kids went to bed I attempted to build a fire in our firepit outside. All was good but about an hour into it the thing just went out. So I guess I failed at fire building 101.

  • Sunday the kids woke up early and they decorated a card for Buffy for mothers day. They also gave her a picture frame with all of them in it. They all had a section in the card to draw. I had to make Micah rethink his artwork because he was going to draw a superhero with knife hands. What a great love you mom that would have been...lol! After worship we went home and ate lunch...and NAPS. Sunday is our official nap day for the whole family. We didn't have church Sunday night so I fired up the grill and we had chicken and steak. Chicken for Buffy and the kids...Steak for me. It was good!

  • I have the greatest wife in the world. She is a great mother and doesn't get enough credit for all she does for the family. I mean look at this title: Wife-Mother-Cook-Accountant-Nurse-Van Driver-Housekeeper-Laundry Cleaner-etc. I love you honey and I know the kids do as well. After all went addressing me many times they say "Mommy...oh I mean Daddy".

So now I am sitting at my desk waiting to get started pulling wires for the new sanctuary. So I thought I would blog as I waited. I am headed off to see if the guys are here. Cya soon!
