Scary Hail

I have seen hail before but I had never seen freaky hail. Most times it is almost spherical in shape or somewhat close. After the storm sirens had ceased and the clouds cleared I went to see the pieces of hail in our yard. As I scanned the lawn I spied out an odd shaped piece of ice. After closer examination I noticed it was almost in a sun shape. There were little spikes all over this sphere of death. Man that would mess something up if it hit ya. So I took a picture of it. It was probably only a half inch in size (without the spikes).

On another note I officially turned 34 today. I had a great day with the family and just relaxed mostly. We went out for a leisurely bike ride on the Green Belt again. The kids just finished baths and Buffy is making me a B-Day dinner.

Hamburger Steak
Mashed Potatoes
Biscuits
Apple Dumplings

All of this is home made of course and I plan on stuffing my gullet full of it all. I may be immobile before the night is over. Buffy also got me some MTN Dew PJ's which are tha bomb. Thank you sweetie for making my Birthday great!

Happy B-Day sweetie!

Today is Buffy's birthday. We don't do much for birthdays but this year we have both been blessed with a huge gift. So we know nothing could be better. We all went out to eat last weekend so that was kind of our B-day diner. We both got bikes for the "Green Belt" so there is another great gift.

I didn't forget to get her a little something for today. So I am not using the above to reason not even acknowledging her birthday. So it is a short post today...but I couldn't go without wishing my wonderful wife a Happy Birthday!

(Silence is broken)

1 Corinthians 13:9-12

9
Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture! 10 But when full understanding comes, these partial things will become useless.

11 When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. 12 Now we see things imperfectly as in a cloudy mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.

Over the last 10 months we have been trying to sell our house in Murray. We had calls and a few close buys but each seemed to lead to a disappointing end. I prayed and sought God's face on the matter of selling the house. As I searched the scripture I tried to let God show me in the scripture things and not let my search for answers get in the way. If you have no idea what I am talking about I will give you an example:

  • With selling the house on my mind I look through Psalm 20. As I scam across it I see verse 4..."May he grant your heart’s desires and make all your plans succeed." All of a sudden I see the answer that "I" am looking for. I pray and he will grant me the desires of my heart AND my plans will succeed. So human translation...If I pray God will answer and since I want to sell it now he will make that plan succeed. Now the real translation would be ... If I seek God I will want his will in my life not my own. Answers to prayer will be in his timing and not mine. So this is the example I was talking about.
I thought well maybe God is trying to teach me something. Like I need to have faith or I needed to be patient. Maybe it was that I needed to trust him. Those answers were so evident that I understood those. I just knew there was more to this. Over time I began to see it. God was teaching me how to be sympathetic and have empathy for people. How so you might ask? Well I was always one to help people see that times like this were to teach us patience, faith and trust. What I needed to be doing is helping them bear that burden. I needed to be there and listen to them. I needed to pray for them and answer only the questions they had instead of giving them my opinion. If I did not know the answer it was OK to tell them I didn't. After realizing this the light switch turned on.

Well to make this post a bit briefer I will rush on. Our house sold Friday and now we have all our business officially done in Murray. Or focus can be totally on us in Owensboro. God came through in a powerful way and I give him praise for it! I praise him for everything not just selling the house. I praise him for EVERYTHING.

The above scripture came to me this morning. As I studied it I began to see what I was truly seeing weeks ago. I saw everything through a clouded mirror. Although I could see that God was going to work I didn't know how. Now on the other side of this I see how he was completely in control. He did this in a small silent whisper saying "I will take care of you".

(Side note - Read Buffy's blog about our blessing as well. Click Here . I had been reading the verses posted on my previous post. She had no idea at the time. But God was telling her "I will take care of you". Both of us hadn't shared this with each other until after the house selling. He was telling us the same thing in different ways. Praise him!)

And the silence starts...

Check daily to see when the silence ends...

"Listen in silence before me..." (Is 41:1a)

“Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. (1 Kings 19:11-12)

"Be still, and know that I am God!..." (Ps 46:10a)

" I wait quietly before God,for my victory comes from him." (Ps 62:1)

"Let all that I am wait quietly before God,for my hope is in him." (Ps 62:5)

"What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor!" (Ps 107:30)

Murray Bound

We are heading to Murray tonight for a day. It has been a while since we have visited with family so I am kind of happy to see everyone. It is so funny each time we go back because Murray seems to change with each travel. Also there will be no trip to the Burial Mounds this time although I do have some new information from a head of Archeology finally. I will post that some other day though. Tonight we are gonna just relax at Dad and Mom's and watch a movie. Saturday will be a bit more busy before we head back to Owensboro.

So I will see you all later!

Weekend Fun

Saturday the Hughes family went out to Panther Creek for the afternoon. This is the same park we went to see Christmas lights in December. The park is really nice and there is lots for the kids to do. There is about 3 different playgrounds, ponds with ducks and huge trails to walk on. The cool thing is that the trails for the most part are on bridges all over the park. Now if you haven't read Buffy's blog about the afternoon you need to do so. I just really enjoyed the uninterrupted family time with no distractions. Saturday was a beautiful day and I hope you all took advantage of the nice weather.

Buffy is at the eye Dr with Abbi today. Abbi has been complaining that some things look fuzzy when she looks at them. If she winds up having to get glasses she will just have one more thing to make her more like her mother. LOL!

For some reason I am just PUMPED about summer camp this year. I haven't felt this way in years about summer camp. One reason may be that my wife will be able to go to this camp with me. Mostly I believe that it will be a life changing experience with God that we will all have.

My latest creation

So we have this youth Cafe that we are slowly finishing up. I have been meaning to make a chalkboard menu like you see in coffee shops. So I went to Hobby Lobby to see about buying some cool chalk for the board. After searching I found a think with 48 different colors in it for 6 bucks. So I then created my masterpiece.

I cut off the board edges and all but this is my creation. I think I have a future in chalk art. lol!

Office Fun

I purchased a new video camera for the youth area. This camera has a hard drive so there is no need for tapes and such. So today I played around with it a bit. I posted the video on facebook first and it has been commented on a bit. Here ya all go:

Kathy : " Oooooh Jamie...(pause) you need to take that and go back there to Amy."

I noticed something

I have been blogging for the last few years. It seems as though my post are becoming farther from each other. When I first started blogging it was filled with nonsense and information. I would type things about what happened that day or biblical applications. I guess in my "veteran" blogging status I have decided that I am too good to write like that anymore. I think not...!

I am going to try to blog more about everyday life. I will though leave out trips to the bathroom and such (lol). So here goes:

Today is kind of a busy day for the Hughes family. The girls have a program tonight at Highland (did I mention they were a blue ribbon school???...inside joke) Elementary. We haven't figured out how we will eat tonight but it will happen I am sure.

I am going to have to head to Kohls here in a few to buy Hannah some Hello Kitty chapstick. Because of round 2 of strep everything had to go. The Hello Kitty in the trash caused tears so Daddy is going to get more.

We had an lady decorate our office today. Now I feel like I am entering a art museum. It looks great! Who knew I would have an official office where you have to go through a secretary to get to my office. NOT ME!

Oh and I paid almost $2.30 for a tea at Tumbleweed. I was like many this better give me the ability to fly for this price. I have noted now that I will drink water at Tumbleweed. I don't think the economy is so bad that sending water through dried leaves cost almost as much as a gallon of gas.

Have a great one all!
