Christmas light lookin'

It is a tradition that we go look at Christmas lights. We ate. had the kids take baths and put pajamas on. Then we headed out with a quick stop at Starbucks. Panther Creek in Daviess County does a good job of decorating their park. It reminds me a lot of the Miller Park in Marshall county. Once there we tuned into the park radio station and slowly began our drive with stops at almost every new light display. Midway through we meet one of the most realistic Santa's walking the park. He wished the children Merry Christmas and went on to the next car. After our completed drive we headed around Owensboro to check out lights in a nicer part of the town. The houses were huge and Chloe called them "liiitle castles".

Well we are headed out for Murray tomorrow afternoon sometime. I hope you all enjoy the celebration of Christ's birth!

Washed by the water

Occasionally while listening to the radio I just hear a song that speaks to me. Months ago I heard a song "Washed by the Water" by a group Need to Breathe. I typed it into my Blackberry and meant to look it up that day. Well today I was cleaning out my memo pad and realized I never looked it up. So I did...WOW! You have to know that I am a jazzy-blues type guy so the song has a great sound to me as well. Let me preface it first with this Scripture:

"let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise." (Hebrews 10:22,23-NLT)

The song is here and you can read the lyrics while listening to the song:

"Washed by the Water"
Daddy was a preacher
She was his wife
Just tryin to make the world a little better
You know, shine a light
People started talking
Just to hear their own voice
Those people tried to accuse my father
Said he made the wrong choice
Though it might be painful
You know that time will always tell
Those people have long since gone
My father never failed

(Chorus)
Even when the rain falls
Even when the flood starts rising
Even when the storm comes
I am washed by the water

Even when Earth crumbles under my feet
Even when ones I love turn around and crucify me
I won't never ever let you down
I won't fall
I won't fall
I won't fall as long as you are around me

Never forget God is faithful to us even when times we seem to be faithless. We are washed by the pure water. What God has made clean through his love is Clean!

A quick update for you all...

Sorry I have been so silent for the last few days. Things have been busy. I have meant to update you all on the youth area construction. As of the last 2 weeks everything has come together. We have all the area painted, carpeted, sound and video run. We are right now setting up the decor for the areas now. The cafe style motif is kind of what we were going for. I really looks good! There will be small things that still need to be done but those can slowly get done. I will take pictures of the area soon and post the new improved Walnut Youth Department.

While you wait here is the new logo we had designed:

15 bucks!

Yesterday I bought gas for the ole Focus. I stood out in the cold and started to pump. The gallons went in but the dollar count didn't increase as much as it usually does. What was this one would ask? Was it not just months ago that one quick flick of the gas handle and you spent 5.00 bucks? I felt like a kid on Christmas. As soon as the pumped clicked off (meaning it was full) I threw my hands in the air. It was $15.00!!!! I was so happy I took pictures with the camera phone.

They say this is about as far down as we will get. The haven't been this low since FEB 2004!! Enjoy it while it lasts everyone!

Black Friday ..ahhhh!

You can see that I am posting more than I usually do. I just had a weekend worthy of blogging about. With explorations, travels, wild moments and Black Friday. I went against my gut and decided to rough Black Friday for a deal on one specific item we wanted for Micah.

Early Friday morning we head out to Murray Wal-Mart with a quick stop at Huddle House for a large coffee (much needed). Then to the store we went. The parking lot was like something you would see at a theme park. I thought we might need a tram to reach the front door faster. Once in we moved through the herd to our trough (toy department pallet holding the one item we wanted). We waiting until the announcement went on the intercom to "Open the pallets". It sounded like Christmas day with the ripping of packaging. I helped a lady load a box into a cart and got ours next. Afterward we navigated AROUND the electronics department due to the fact that the herd was stampeding and we didn't want a part of that at all. Buffy and I moved around the store picking up some deals. We decided it would be best for me to hang around in one spot and she would do the scavengering. So I sit back drank my coffee and watched the madness. There was pushing, shoving, words I won't repeat.

It must have been pretty bad around the electronics department because "Tha Law" was there. There was three to be exact.

After our cart was full of the things we wanted we heard a rumor that the automotives was checking people out. We slowly moved that way and it was TRUE. We checked out immediately and moved out the door passing the crowd of people waiting to check out.

Although it was funny to watch people act like fools over deals it was also sad. What has this Holy day become? When retail stores are not safe to shop in and people act out in anger and hatred? This is not what it is about people!

Hope was Born on Christmas! A light that shines in the darkness and judging by the attitude of people the darkness is very evident. That light will pierce the darkness just like the star of Bethlehem. Shining down on Jesus our Savior. It is written in Luke 2:10 : "I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people". Let us remember that day and take joy in that instead of a deal at Wal-Mart.

By the way look at what I found at Walmart on 54 in Owensboro:

Pallets full of the very thing people were fighting for on Black Friday. Yesterday I just had to take a picture of that.

4X4 Fun

After the aborted plan we decided to go off roading. Check this out:

Site 15CW64 and Site15CW65

Update below (10/16/2013)

I wanted to post this separate for the fact that I wanted to keep those who care updated about my search. Once again our plans were fooled but not without me getting some pictures of the site area. Friday afternoon John, Trevor and I headed out to Backusburg for the mound search. Unfortunately there is a hunting lodge close to the site. We parked the truck and headed to the site on the other side of Clarks River (Site 15CW65). While exploring I started to take pictures of the other side (Site 15CW64). We heard the sound of truck doors shut and dog barking. We continued our search and expedition. After a few more minute we heard something that would make us decide to leave. Pow Pow Pow....! Obviously the hunters thought we were on their hunting territory and wanted to scare us off. Right after the shots my brother stopped looked at me and exclaimed "Abort Mission". We hurried to the truck with a small sprint at the end. But not before I snapped some pictures of the area.

Most likely the mound was up the hill here you can see a small hill in the middle.
