Weedeating injury...lol

Today was mowing day. Every Monday I head out and get the yard work done. I forgot to charge my batteries for my weed eater overnight. So that meant that the batteries wouldn't have enough time to be completely charged. I finished the yard and hoped the batteries would have enough juice to complete everything. The first battery lasted about 10 mins so I was not to sure of the other. I put the second one it and it had power. So I began my speed weed eating process. I have perfected this over the years for numerous reasons.

1) Not enough time
2) Running out of gas
3) Running out of string
4) Running out of battery (Newly added today)

I must have turned wrong in my rapid movements. I pulled my back somehow and now I am walking around like a old man. This is not the first time I have received an injury during weed eating. Back in Virgina I was speed weed eating and was running out of time. I had to hurry because I had a bus route to do and I needed to go home and take a shower. In this unfortunate incident I wasn't paying attention and ran square into a tree branch and hit the ground. Of course I had a headache that day. I do believe this is the moment I began to notice my "episodes" I take meds for now.

Note to self...stop the madness!

Mcdonald's Tea Sweetened with Addicta

Many of you may have seen my post about McDonald's French fries. If not please read this link first:

Crack Fries

Now with that said we must get to the new dilemma I face. McDonald's has now put out another addicting item. This would be the tremendously great, stupendous, and wonderful tasting sweet tea. As soon as it came out I was like "Yeah right". Simply because most fast food restaurants have no clue how to make good tea at all. Hardee's or Carl's Jr is ok but usually has the appearance of water with a slight orange tent.

So once they offered Sweet Tea free with the purchase of a sandwich I was intrigued. I stuck the straw into the tea and took a sip. All of sudden my taste buds activated my endorphins. I immediately attacked the cup like a Hummingbird. It was sooooo good! Ever since then when I look at the Golden Arches I think of Sweet tea.

Funny thing is that Buffy loves it too. I will occasionally bring home a huge sweet tea. I lay it down on counter. Upon return it appears that the cup weighs less. I think to my self..."hummm self did you drink more than you thought??" Then over a few minute period I notice that it is disappearing. Buffy has been attacking my hummingbird feeder as well. Luckily most feeders come with multiple places to feed. There may come a day when this hummingbird will attack.

So congrats McD's you have created yet another masterpiece. Sweet Tea!!

Now this is how you cut line.

Today after our weekly staff meeting we went out to eat at a sub restaurant in Owensboro. It is really is a great place and they actually make the stuff in front of you. That means they actually fried or cook the meat. After waiting in line we all sit down to eat. Almost all the way through David (ADD friend) wanted to place a order to take back to the church for someone. So I am thinking to myself that he is going to get in line and order.

Buuuuuttttt Noooooooooo..... He grabs the handy Dandy Blackberry and calls the restaurant. I begin to laugh and decide I need to go and take a picture of the lady taking his order. From the counter (only feet from our table) I then take a picture of David ordering from the phone. When I come back I mention this is blog worthy and our pastor says "check out the sign". There was a sign that says place orders here. We all laughed and Eugene our Associate Pastor says "Now that is a way to cut line..."

Here is a diagram of this event:

Being patient with difficult people.

This evening I found myself in the drive through at Wendy's. After ordering I pull up to the first window (only feet from the second...what's with that??). Then I headed to the second window and they handed me my drink and told me it would be a minute on my order. While I waited I spied a car that was plastered with bumper stickers. After seeing the rainbow sticker I knew it wouldn't be a car that I would love to read it's stickers. It was plagued with riddles and jabs at Christianity. At one time in life this would have enraged me. Over the years I have begun to see things differently. In the light of this scripture we should all take note:

"Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.

Again I say, don’t get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights. A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people. Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth. Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants." - II Tim 2:22-27

Those stickers weren't bought to just for decoration on the car. They were there to offend. So thinking about that we can't allow that to entice us to argue or fight with someone with their belief. Here is an opportunity to exercise patience, kindness and love. To break down the anger barriers set up by these people means we have to love them and be patient. In that we may have the chance to show them the REAL truth.

Hey I am on You Tube!

Whilst in the great state of Georgia I attempted to do a cart wheel. Some of the youth thought it would be funny to see an old man break a hip. I showed them...lol! If you notice carefully I appear to be dizzy after the amazing gymnastic maneuver. Which would be a correct assumption. I am hoping to make the 2008 Olympics as a fill in. I will wait for the call.

Yesterday afternoon I attempted street luge and hula hoop. Both of those failed miserably. It is only on face book video right now.

18 nails in one wall..

While I was doing something constructive today my mind decided to have a ADD moment. I noticed there are a mass amount of nails in my office walls.

The wall closest to me has 18 nails in it.
The next has 3
The next has 11
The last has 7

Those are just the nails because one wall has about 20 something wholes in it. So I am guessing the minister before me had posters all over the wall. Either that or we have a severe termite problem.

So anyway why does that matter. It really has no meaning or reason for a blog post. But I did find this cool hat:

Now that my friends is RANDOM. Welcome to my world.

A busy day.

Today was kind of a busy day. It is morning staff meeting and then we pastors go out to lunch. Afterward we headed to the new campus and measured the stage. While they were doing that I was busy getting lost in the rest of the church. I took pictures with my camera phone but they are not worth seeing on the big PC Screen. Once we got back I had a few youth drop by to chat. Let's just say I am really proud of them. After they left Bro Jeff showed me the specs on the sound and video system. As he described all of it I realized how little I knew about everything. That stuff was confusing but I am glad he is explaining it all to me.

It is exciting to move to the new church. I have never been a part of something this big and God is showing me a lot!

Tybee Trip and home alone.

This week we took a group of youth to Tybee Island, GA. I have made previous trips to tybee. The first one I didn't blog that one but here is our second trip:

Second Trip

Anyway the trip was great and the youth were awesome. We used the Examine literature that I put together in February. This literature has done a GREAT job of ministering to youth AND adults. God's Word is awesome and changes our hearts. We took 15 including adults and truly worshiped, fellowshipped and had fun.

I headed home yesterday and things were different. Normally I come home to a family waiting to see me. Buffy and the kids went to Murray for the weekend for wedding stuff and family visits. One might think "you will get some rest". That is not the case. I miss them and can't wait until Sunday. I came home and the the kids and Buffy had wrote me notes in the driveway with sidewalk chalk. It was so great! Then I came in and there were messages all over my bed from them. I sat there and wept while I read each one.

Usually I am the one who leaves and come back to them. The roles are reversed and I don't like it. LOL!

I know they will have a good time and I need to mow the yard and do some other stuff. I think I will head to starbucks to kill some time tonight.

Pyrotechnic fiesta!

Last night we went to the Riverfront and watched fireworks. It actually wasn't to hard to park and walk to where we watched them. With the mass amounts of people out on the boardwalk type area you would think it would have been hard but it wasn't. The fireworks were nice and the kids (*Click here->besides Abbi) liked the fireworks.

Beforehand our neighbors invited us for a grill out and firework display. When I say neighbors I mean the WHOLE street. We had already made plans to go out so we didn't attend. On the way back home after the firework display we saw the conclusion of our neighbors as we drove up. I must say they were pretty good. I am sure there was a bit of money tied into those.

This morning I looked on the sidewalk and road and notice huge amount of firework pieces all over our sidewalk, driveway and yard. I wanted to take a picture just to show you how much they shot. Before I could though I noticed our neighbors and children out sweeping up the mess in peoples yards and all. We really do live in a nice neighborhood.

Family and Friends

Buffy decided to create a blog to keep you all up to date. As we now live in Owensboro, KY we know that not you might like to see what new things are happening. So mark this blog as one of your favorites and keep up with the Hughes 6:

My Many Blessings

Also I hope you all like the new look of the blog! When Buffy started hers I found some neat templates and decided to use them on hers and mine. Fear not all...I will still post about family happenings because I tend to embellish things for comic relief. LOL!
