It's like I have the plague.

I had to call my new Neurologist today. I am taking to seizure meds now. I am in the process of starting a new one in hopes that the old one will be faded out afterward. They told me not to drive. I am like, why in the world would they ask me not to do that? I haven't had a Grand Mal seizure ever. They don't even know what is going on. I have 2 test scheduled. I have a sleep deprived EEG and a MRI in the same day. My father is taking off to take me to it. Thanks Dad.

I feel like I have the plague or something. Well anyway life goes on. Wed is over and Thursday is just minutes away. Have a good one!

Parking Garages

I went to the Dr today in Paducah. It seems as though this Dr actually got a degree. I have schedule some tests on the ole noggin'. I am sure they will come to the same assumption as me. There is something up there but it is hard to pinpoint what it actually is.

I noticed that old people and parking garages don't mix. I get ready to go in to the parking garage an almost hit someone coming out of the ENTER ONLY spot. Who do you think it was? OLD PEOPLE. Then I am driving up there and I then meet another lady that can't figure out to go up the garage you must use the MIDDLE ramp. She just keep driving around in circles. Guess what she was? She was an OLD person. Then I get up the ramp and notice another set driving down the ramp on the WRONG side. Finally you all can guess it was an OLD person. I know that they are confusing. But here is were they provide parking outside close for them. I mean the poor people must get there 5 hours early just to park.

Another day in the bag. I hope yours was equally as entertaining. Mom thanks for the lunch!

Chronicles of Narnia II and Sweet Potatoes

I finished another book in the Chronicles of Narnia. I tell you it's almost impossible to put these books down. I purchased the whole set (in on book) for 10.00 at Walmart. Now that my friends is a deal. I read the Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe first. Then I went back and read the first one in the series "The Magicians Nephew". It was good and did a great job leading you to the next book.

There was a Father-Daughter stand down tonight at the dinner table. My smallest girl has decided to go on a hunger strike. I always make them try one bite of everything. How will they know if they don't like it if they have never tried it? Well she wasn't gonna...... So I scooped up a small portion of sweet potatoes and put it in her already open mouth. She then left it right there and commenced on wailing with it hanging there (reminds me of a certain brussel sprout stand down....JOHN). After what seemed like 5 mins of open mouthed wailing she spit it in her plate. I made her sit in her bed until she stopped wailing. After this she came back and ate with the family. I must note that the sweet potatoes are still there in the exact place they were before. I know she had to taste some of it. That is the end of that until a new food is introduced.

Have a great evening and I will hope to post about my Dr's visit tomorrow. I am going to a new Nero Dr......Fingers crossed.

The tower has fallen.

It is really windy tonight. I am setting here and all of a sudden I hear this BOOM! I look outside and see that the antenna has fallen over. It scared the daylights right out of me. I figure I will take care of that in the morning. It will be funny to see what kind of reception it gets on the ground.

Church was good today. Some Sundays are busy and others are not. This was one of those busy days. We had our annual meeting to get the church calendar ready for 2006. I spent the normal nap time working on last minute touches to the schedule.

We got a new Christmas tree this year. The kids really like it! They are so excited about the smallest things. It is great to see that. I know some day they will get to the point where it takes a lot to excite them. Here at the Hughes house simple suprises you. I like it that way.

Have a good night and sleep well....

The Photo Shoot

Well today we took the little ones for the annual Christmas pictures. They were all dressed matching. We had also made sure that they were well rested for this shoot.

Last time we were they for 1 hour and got one shot. It is hanging on the wall behind me. The girls are smiling and Micah is has a fake smile that almost says "Hurry up and take the picture".

This time it went better we actually got to choose from some and the kids were almost all smiling. We did have to fight Micah from grabbing his chin (He did that to make sure he was smiling correctly), Hannah just had her mouth open most of the time and Abbi kept trying smile weird (appeared to be like she was gritting her teeth).

All went well and we treated them to a toy from the toy department. Oh the wonders of bribery!

Black Friday or Friday of Death?

Look at headlines:

CNN-"Things got out of hand at a Wal-Mart store in Orlando, Florida, where a man who allegedly cut in line to get a discounted laptop computer was wrestled to the ground, according to WFTV-TV."

Fox News - " "It's a little rough but heh," said Lorenzo DeMassino, 31, who bought Game Boy items."

CBS News - "There was trouble at another Wal-Mart in Renton, Wash., south of Seattle, where extra police were called to control crowds of zealous shoppers who shoved their way into the electronics department, pushing some counters out of position as they tried to get their hands on a limited supply of laptop computers, reports"

CBS News - "Shoppers in Beaumont, Texas, are demanding answers after an off duty police officer allegedly sprayed mace into a crowd of 200 inside a Wal-Mart store.
Witnesses say 200 people were pushing into the store's electronics section hoping to grab one of 19 computer laptops that had been marked down from 800-dollars to 200-dollars."

They are all about the same. Look for yourself CNN, MSNBC, Fox News , ABC News and CBS News. I have one simple question for those people.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

More and more the American people act like animals. It's like a dog at a dinner bowl. Don't cross him/her or you are bringing back a nub. Except for a bowl of FOOD it is a Computer. Also it's not a dog it is a person. People you make me sick. Wake up and realize that there is more to life than you petty "I gotta have this" attitudes.

Proverbs 1:19
"Such is the fate of all who are greedy for gain. It ends up robbing them of life."

Go ahead and duke it out at Wally World over the next greatest deal. I will sit back and actually live my life not lose it to GREED.

Time to gluttonize.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
The time has come to eat so much that we will actually sweat the food we eat. You know what I mean. It is that feeling you get when you have ate waaaaay to much. Very similar to the pre-vomit feeling. Instead it is the "I ate too much and I need to vomit feeling". Enjoy your food and remember to never never never mix dressing and raisins together.

The thanksgiving Parade will be on any minute. This to me is the symbol of the holidays. It is officially here. Yeah the same balloons float down the street. But is it an American tradition. This may be the coolest one in awhile. They were worried about the weather. NBC just announced that the balloons will fly. It would be cool to see one get away. Fly away Barney! Fly like the wind!

I am getting ready to go over to my parents for thanksgiving brunch. Buffy (Martha Stewart without the jail time and ugly look) is making something that smells great. Eat up!

Have a great holiday!

Colossians 2:6-7
"6 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to live in obedience to him. 7 Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him, so you will grow in faith, strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught. Let your lives overflow with thanksgiving for all he has done."

Thanks from: Us --- To: God

Last night we had a wonderful time praising and honoring the Lord. The meal afterward was great. The scriptures covered made me dive in further to a single verse. I think that a study of this verse will allow us to see how great and mighty our God is. Also we will see our need to praise him!

Honor and majesty surround him;
strength and beauty are in his dwelling.
1 Chronicles 16:27 (NLT)

Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and joy in his dwelling place.
1 Chronicles 16:27 (NIV)

Splendor and majesty flow out of him,
strength and joy fill his place.
1 Chronicles 16:27 (The Message)

Glory and honour are in his presence;
strength and gladness are in his place.
1 Chronicles 16:27 (KJV)

The 5 bold words I want to show you there translated meanings and usage:

  • Honor - authority 2, beauty 1, glory 1, honor 3, majestic 2, majesty 4, natural color 1, splendid 1, splendor 8, vigor 1

  • Majesty - array 1, beautiful 1, dignity 1, honor 2, majestic 2, majesty 15, splendor 8

  • Strength - fortress* 1, loud 1, might 3, mighty 4, power 12, stern 1, strength 53, strong 16, stronghold 2

  • Joy - joy 2

  • Place - anywhere* 1, area 1, country 1, direction 1, everywhere* 1, ground 2, home 7, home town 1, localities 1, place 348, place suitable 1, places 16, position 1, room 3, seat* 2, site 4, sites 1, some 1, source 1, space 1, space* 1, where* 1, wherever 1, wherever* 2
Honor is the first word. What does it mean to honor God? How do we do this? Well one of the ways to use this word is to say natural color or be an ornament. The way we honor God is becoming an ornament of Him to the world. The time is coming to decorate trees with ornaments. We do this to make the tree more beautiful. In this case God does not need to be more beautiful. He just wants us to be an ornament that reflects and shines His glory.

Majesty is our second word. Every time I hear this word I think of kings and queens. This is natural for many of us. I will use the word dignity. We treat many people we respect with great dignity. This isn't a required thing but just a way of complimenting the person. With God it naturally flows from his throne. We are not required to respect or honor God. It is a great choice and privledge. This again is a symbol of worship.

Strength is the third word. This in the world describes a person with physical strength. God's strength is everywhere. It is not just physical. One of the words meanings can be stronghold. Think now that you are in the military and your commander has said to you that finally they have a stronghold in the enemies territory. This means that it is established and not moving. It is a central point to wage a great offensive. God's power is just the same. His strength is given to us as a stronghold. It will now allow the enemy to defeat us. So in our weakness God is strong.

Joy is the fourth word. Joy is a term that is about to be popular for about one month. "Joy to the world...." You will hear it being played everywhere. When people are asked what brings them true joy. I am afraid that many would not put Christ in the list. True joy only comes from the heart of God. We find great joy in our salvation.

Finally the last word is Place. It actually has "His place". Where is this? Well to look at the word usages it seem to suggest that it is everywhere. When you think of it that is true. God has created all things through himself. All things are his. The great thing is he wants to share in this. God created the earth and put man on it. When man sinned this was not his home anymore. God has heaven set up for us. He has that awaiting us. So His place has been made for us too.

Reading all this if you took the time you see we have a great reason to be thankful. God is great and powerful. But he wants to share it ALL with us. Praise him!

We have called it...The organ is dead.

Most churches have them or HAD them at one time. Ours kicked the bucket a few weeks back. The repairman said that they don't even make parts for that one anymore. Probably because Quasimodo is dead and he was the only one that fixed em'. Bro D is out today looking at keyboards. I feel that this is a great compromise for the old ones that like to hear the sound of a organ. Being as....The keyboard can make about any sound. This way we can appease the organ-aholics and also get a keyboard.

I must make note that we already have a keyboard. BUT!! It belongs to the music director. So this way he can use this one here and not tear up his.

Good day all...(Leaving to the sound of taps).

This week should be fattening.

The week is here in which we all will push our stomachs to the limit. We will eat and eat and eat until we either are miserable or throw up. Oh the joy of Thanksgiving. This week will be long and fattening. I will now show you my gluttony schedule.

Mon - Day off
Tue - Work and Church thanksgiving dinner. (Fat grams to be involved)
Wed - No Church, Day of recovery and fasting. (prep for Thursday)
Thr - T-day (similar to D-day), Brunch at the parents, nap after noon, Dinner at grandmothers. (BTW there better be some card playin' or else I will boycott next T-day).

The week is set. The time is here. Eat I say!!!

Nascar is over.

I have not written about my favorite sport. For the main reason is most people don't care about it. Nascar to me is fun to watch. I enjoy watching people racing their cars to victory. Often times the car that starts off first is not the winner. I have seen a car come from the back to the front and win the race. Each track is different in it's own way. That allows for some drivers to excel in areas. The true test is to see a driver that can excel in all areas.

My driver is Matt Kenseth. He to me is the type of driver I would like to be. You get out there and race. Try to be as polite on an off the track as possible. He did well at the end of the year. He had a bad year. But congrats to him for racing hard until the end.

I made a car that I hope someday he will drive. LOL!!! It says Sozo on it which is my screen name on most internet programs.

Have a great evening!

Jars

I went to a Jars of Clay concert tonight. It was actually really good. There was a book reading at the concert (which was new to me). Then Sara Groves opened up for them. It was a very relaxing concert with a fresh feel to it. It made me want to set at a table and drink coffee.

I am going to continue my book for tonight. I am flying through the Chronicles of Narnia. Waiting for each chapter to unfold is almost killing me. I think I am getting old when I realize that reading is fun. LOL!!!

Good night I am going to sip some coffee and read. Where are my bi-focals?

A tribute to C.S. Lewis.

If you are living and breathing you probably have noticed that a The Chronicles of Narnia is about to come to the movies. I have to admit that I didn't even read these books as a child. I have decided to go back and read these. I figure if grown adults can wait in line for the next harry potter book I can read these books. Plus these have been out for ages and you can get the whole set at Walmart for $27.00.

I was researching C.S. Lewis today. I knew that he was a Christian philosopher and writer. But I didn't know how deep this man was. I want to show you a few quotes from this great man of God.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

If I find in myself a desire which no experience
in the world can satisfy, the most probable
explanation is that I was made for another world"

But why anything comes to be there at all,
and whether there is anything behind the things
science observes. . .Thiss is not a scientific
question.

I was at this time living in a whirl of
contradictions. I maintained that God did not
exist. I was also very angry with God for not
existing.

Free will, though it makes evil possible, is also the
only thing that makes possible any love or goodness
or joy worth having.

It is after you have realized that there is a real Moral
Law, and a Power behind the law, and that you have
broken that law and put yourself wrong with that
Power it is after all this, and not a moment sooner,
that Christianity begins to talk.

God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks
in our conscience, but shouts in our pains:
megaphones megaphone to rouse a deaf world.
~ Lewis

This man knew what he was talking about. You can just see his progression through the years. In all things he realized the very foundation of EVERYTHING is on Christ.

"Think about what I am saying. The Lord will give you understanding in all these things."
(2 Timothy 2:7)

The meal with Bill.

Bill and Joyce Thorton are members at my church. He asked me last night if I would be interested in eating fish with them for lunch today. I said sure. After all it is free food. More importantly it is a chance to fellowship with some members.

I went down to their house today. After getting there I realized that I was a part of a dinner party. There was a great feast. We had fish, white beans, vinegar slaw, potato salad, hush puppies, onion, fresh tomatoes and apple pie. This was a good meal. I sat around with people old enough to be grandparents. As I listened I noticed something. Our generation is straying away from meals with friends and family at home. Instead we all go to Cracker Barrel and eat. It was fun to sit there and here them swap stories.

We have a thing at Micah's school tonight. So we will be having spaghetti and going to a "Book Fair". Micah has been worried sick about getting a book. The school was letting children buy books already. He hadn't bought one yet. We just wanted to be there. If you are not careful your child will come home with "Sponge Bob's Adventure in Bubble land". When really they need to be a little more selective. I want my son to enjoy reading. I just want a book with some substance.

Another cold day out there. So if you are out bundle up! Have a good evening.

Wednesday, November 16, 2005

The hurricando's came through and now it is cold.

Yesterday we had storms all over the place. Calloway county was lucky to not have anything like the surrounding counties. Please keep the families that lost homes and family to this disaster. It seemed to be all day that something was going on. After all the storms moved through it was COLD outside.

I finished yet another class in the quest to get my degree. I am 2/15ths of the way there. Whoo hoo! LOL! My next class is Group Processes. That sounds as interesting as reading the back of a shampoo bottle.

We have church tonight. I guess I need to get motivated and get some stuff done. Until tomorrow...Stay outta trouble.

Shots continued.

Well today we went to get the kids shots. This is the flu vaccine. We go in to the office and all is well. Once we go in to get the actual shot Micah was selected first. He use to fight like a cougar to keep from getting a shot. This was not the case today. After all was said and done he said "That wasn't that bad".

This was NOT the case with Abbi. She had her 4 year old shots not to long ago. This time she was going to put up a fight. Abbi somehow wiggled and squirmed out of Buffy's hands. Then she proceeded to get under a chair and hold on for dear life. I had to go in and get her. She was crying and fighting me like a alligator on the crocodile Hunter. I had to literally pry her death grip hands off the chair legs to get her out. Then it took me and Buffy to hold her down long enough for the shot.

Hannah was watching all this. Although she had a pitiful look on her face. It was almost like she gave up. She didn't even fight. It was sad almost.

As soon as we got the shots Abbi was ready to make a b-line for the door. Good times...Good times. Bad news is that in a month they have to go back for a booster of something.

It is thundering out there.

Today is a gloomy day. I have done a little. Probably too little (LOL). The girls played around today while I kind of was lazy. I cleaned around the Hughes mansion some.

Micah came home with a headache. I noticed that he forgot his glasses this morning. I think from now on if he forgets I am going to go up there and take him the glasses. The poor thing has his fathers genes in him.

I have a paper to write tonight so all this laziness has to come to an end. Not much more to say today. Hope to interest you more tomorrow. I think I just heard thunder so I need to make this short anyway.

Sunday Service

Yesterday I was still recovering from the series of sicknesses. Bro D. is sick as well but his I am afraid might land him in the hospital if he is not careful. So yesterday during the AM service our prayer leader called Bro D. , Me and Buffy, Some others that are sick up front. The whole congregation was either laying hands are circled holding hands. Then Phil (pray leader and warrior) began to pray. It was an awesome thing. We do this occasionally. I truly think that our church is blessed to have such a prayer team. They are the ones that meet in a room on Wednesday nights and pray for everything. There is power in that room. I have often told him I am afraid they might pray the roof down on them.

It was awesome and so is our God. Never under estimate the power of prayer.

"Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15And their prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make them well. And anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven." James 5:14-15

Kind of a stinky day.

I think that I earn the right to say that it was a stinky day today. Here is the list:

1) Sickness has moved into intestines. (Yuck)
2) Laser Quest had a party there so not all got to play. (Sorry Jonathan and crew)
3) My wife's grandmother is very bad. She is not expected to make it much longer.
4) Buffy has a migraine.
5) Bro D is sick too.

With all that I would say it has been a off day. I look forward to tomorrow. Sorry it is such a short message. But I don't feel well and I am going to bed like the old people at 9:00. Be well all!

Upper Mongolian Crud.

I thought that this stuff was going away. Little did I know that it was just laying dormant long enough for me to skip a dose of medicine. The beast attacked me this morning. I am assuming my body is trying to "exorcise the Deeeemons!", because I have been coughing my lung up in pieces.

With that wonderful description I move on. I have to leave a little early to go to the wonderful dump today. I just found out that I can take the ole rusted hot water heater to a recycling facility. So at least it won't cost anything to get rid of it.

Saturday the youth will be headed out to Laser Quest. This is in Nashville. We will then venture over to the Opry Mills Mall. Pray for me....LOL!

Have a great weekend.

And the oval office was locked.

Our fearless leader is off today. I am sure I have mentioned that. Today our friendly computer man (from this time on he will be called FCM) came in to fix the PC's. Each got a little bonus ram and Bro D's got a Cd/DVD-rom drive. When our FCM came in I thought to myself now how will I get in that office. The oval office has only 2 keys. One the Secretary of State has and the other the Commander and Chief. I am the vice president you think there might be a key for me.

It has all been taken care of though. I went to the Secretary of States house and retrieved the mentioned key. It is quite funny. She has them color coded. You will never guess what color Macho man's is. LOL LOL !!! PINK, yeah that is right pink.

I will be returning the key ASAP. We don't want any Top Secret Documents to leave the White House. It might get leaked to the press. I am just waiting on the FCM to finish.

Buffy has a doctors visit today. I am hoping and praying all is still well. She sure is sick enough. She has been driving porcelain Bus (AKA toilet) a lot lately. Love ya sweetie ;)

Questions and Statements.

Well here is a list of Questions and statements the children have asked in the last 24hours or so:

Micahs Questions
Does the tooth fairy sparkle? (He lost his first tooth yesterday)
Can the tooth fairy open ziploc bags? (He placed his tooth in a ziploc)

Micah's Statement
I want to put the tooth on my dresser, because I am afraid she won't find it under my pillow.

Abbi's Question
Who broke my tree outside? (The tree that holds their tire swing has lost it's leaves)

Abbi's Statement
Sara's cat died today, but she is getting a puppy. (Imaginary friend)

Hannah's Question
She had none this morning so this is blank.

Hannah's Statement
Daddy will fix it. (An answer to who broke the tree. This was directed to Abbi)

Well that is a small report from the Hughes house today. I feel like someone hit me with a Mack truck and then decided to run over me again. Just to make sure they didn't miss anything. LOL!

The Ledger.

I am suppose to be interviewed today by the Murray Ledger about the Upward Program. Thank the Lord it is by a different guy. Last time he asked me goofy questions and then took a bunch of pictures. Afterward in his own evil way he published the worse picture he took. This guy is part of a sports column. I think it is for the month of December but who knows.

A question arises to me. Why do they keep picking me. I mean now there are 3 Upward Basketball leagues. I know that this is our 4th year in Upward and the others are on year 2 and 1. Still this makes me wonder. I know I am not eloquent in my speech or interviewing skills. But oh well.

Class is tonight. This one is wrapping up faster than I expected it would. I hope each one goes this fast or faster. This cohort learning is a blast!

Well sniffle sniffle...I have a cold and am tired of writing on this blog for today. Have a great day.

The lack of motivation.

Today I sit here with about 1000 things I could be doing. Instead I am typing on this computer. Yesterday was a decent day. I have to be honest I wasn't wanting to be at church. But as the day went on it was better. Lord help me those days.

I think I am getting a chest cold. So that adds to my lack of motivation. I would rather sit on the couch all day and do absolutely nothing. Normally these chest things turn into bronchitis for me. I am prone to that for some reason. I am hoping that this is all there is.

Our baby that is growing inside my wife seems to think it is fun to torcher her late at night. Now it is suppose to be the size of a lime. Can you imagine that?? I know this is my 4th child but I never can grasp that idea. Such a little thing can cause a person to be so sick.

My two girls are playing right now. It sounds like house. I think Hannah is the mother today and Abbi is the baby. It flip flops from minute to minute. Oh the joys of listening to your children as they play. The great thing is just to listen as the don't know you are hearing everything they say. It makes it more authentic.

Have a great Monday. God Bless.

Sunday, November 06, 2005

Oh come on now......LOL

Well last night was interesting. Around late afternoon I went into our utility room and noticed water in the floor. After further research I found that it was leaking from out water heater. At first I was like, "Oh Great!!!! Another expense that we can't afford" after all the dryer went out not to long ago.

I call my dad because he has become something of a jack of all trades in his OLD age. He comes over and we decide to call it. Yep at 5:00PM the Rheem (mentioned that for hopes that Rheem will start making water heaters that last longer than 6 years) died. Well I am thinking how can I fix the problem tonight so that I can get the money next week to pay for this little problem. So I decide that I will just cap the thing off until Tuesday. Well once we went to Lowes my father informs me that he and my mother want to buy us a water heater. First I think no dad I am a big boy now I will figure something out. Then I remember something someone told me one time about gifts. He said "If you deny someone a chance to give you a gift you are denying them a blessing". Well needless to say the new WHIRLPOOL water heater is in.

Thanks Dad for helping me with the install and purchase of a item that I really couldn't afford. I only hope to be half the father to my children. I know someday it will be my turn. I know that I will do the same. That goes for you too mom (LOL!! Didn't mean to leave you out).

"A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all;"
Ps 34:19

(In no way to I claim righteousness on my own. Only in Christ will I be right)

Have you ever noticed at restaurants...?

Have you ever noticed at restaurants families that sit and nothing is said? Well yesterday my and my brother we having lunch and we noticed such a thing. This is not the first and probably wont be the last time. I just thing that is seem strange. People that are suppose to be the closest just sit there and stare blankly at their food. As if the food has the best social skills at the table.

I to this day seem to think that meal time is a time of socializing with your closest family members. We sit down at home and all eat and talk. It is an enjoyable time. Probably a lost art in today's Raise Your Children on McDonald's society.

I am a grown man and still enjoy talking while eating with my parents, grandparents and family. Think of it. We are entering the holiday season. Is your idea of a great dinner for thanksgiving unsocial. Or is it like mine. A group of your closest family members eating, laughing and telling stories. Also with an occasional game of Rook. LOL!

So world stop staring at this inanimate food hoping that it will be the conversation piece. Instead get out there tell stories, laugh and fellowship with one another.

Have a good Saturday!

Upward, Fall Festival and Mini-atheists

Upward Basketball season is upon us again. For you who don't know about this time. Let me give you a briefing. We first evaluate kids to make the teams even. The grades are from K-6th and it is Co-ed. The very first year we did it we had 36 children. The following year it was almost 60. Last year because of a 2nd league entering we had 35. Well there has been another league started. This I am afraid may be the end of Upward at Poplar Spring. We will only have to wait and see.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Fall Festival is tonight at North Elementary. I am sure Micah and the girls will enjoy spending time at this event. From what I can remember as a kid there is games, food and other things for the children to take part in.

Buffy has coined a phrase now. Yesterday we were discussing how teachers have to be careful on what they say. If they ask you to pray for a fellow student that could lead to trouble. Although today the word prayer has become a generic term. I can remember after 9-11 that the president asked the country to PRAY. I sensed in this message that it was a way to say thoughts and prayers. So anyway teachers have to be careful in what they say. Buffy said because the "mini-atheists" will go home and tell their parents about what was said. Then before you know it the teacher is warned not to say such things. Maybe if enough of us would band together about items that are opposite to our faith then this madness would stop. I mean what if a teacher said "The earth is 100,000,000 years old". Is she stating a fact? NO ! Because that can't be proven. So in the same way she is teaching something that she is convinced of....but it is not proven. Hmmm...........Can you say I opened a can of worms? I believe so.

Well have a great Friday and begin a good weekend!
BTW this is my 100th post!! Whoo hooo!

Abbi's Shots and the "Speed Walker"

Today we had to take Abbi to get her 4year shots. Being a person with the phobia labeled "Aichmophobia" (Fear of needles) I am pretty much worthless when it comes to shots. She had 3 shots and boy does she know how to make you feel like a dog. Abbi has developed a cry that would make a terrorist cry. She simply puts her face to your chest and silently the tears flow. Occasionally she will look at you with this face that almost makes you want to step into oncoming traffic. Anyway back to the subject at hand. Abbi takes the shots and we leave.

I must tell you about a lady we saw while waiting for the medieval needle torcher. The kids were all playing around the door and I mentioned to Buffy that they might need to move. Simply because an old lady might get knocked down. Suddenly the door opens. I see a walker appear. I think to myself here comes an elderly person that can barely walk. This couldn't be farther from the truth. This lady comes in at almost the speed of sound with this walker. I swear I heard a sonic boom after she entered. Not only was this lady movin' she didn't even put the walker to the floor in the first 10 steps. She would walk ten steps and then put the walker down. It was almost like she didn't need the walker at all. So questions arise.

1) Was she just faking it?
2) Was this a way to get attention?
3) Did she just need it occasionally (Hope this is the answer)
4) Is she a spy from some other country? (This could be her cover)
5) Was I dreaming?
6) Did this speed walker carry this for a defense mechanism?

All good questions. I am not making fun of people in walkers. I have met many people that have to use them. I have met many people that need them and won't ever give up on walking on their own. What bothers me is that "IF" this lady is just doing this for a closer parking space then she should be put in jail. I have seen many elderly people huffing it in Walmart parking lot simply because of people like that. Lets just pray that question number 3 was the right one.

Anyway I will stop with the rant.

Friendships...that last a lifetime.

Last night at class we had to prepare a speech that was about our best friend. The teacher said "I know many of you would talk about Christ, your wife or family, but I would like to see something different". Man he like totally shot my project there. See besides Christ my wife is my best friend. So many people today use the word "best friend" so easily. A best friend is hard to come by.

I wrote about a best friend that I basically lost to drugs and alcohol. We parted ways when he decided that those items were better for him than our friend ship. I went on to explain the that our friendship began from strangers that were neighbors. Just the other day I ran across him again. But this time it was strangers in the parking lot.

I must say that I guess I am glad they didn't allow me to speak of my wife. The reasons are 2 fold.

1) There is no way I could have kept that under 3 minutes.
2) There is no way I could do it without getting emotional.

But just for a second let me tell you this. It is rare that people have best friend. But it is even more rare that that best friend is your spouse. If you have been so blessed like me. Then you need to get down on your knees and thank the Lord! Sweetie I love you! I thank God he brought me you!

Well with all that said I hope you all have a great Wednesday. Thank you to all the new blogger that have been visiting my site. I hope it helps you in some way. If not I hope that I don't completely bore you to death with my run on sentences and fragments. LOL!

November is here!

Well I am on my way preparing for turkey consumption. The national day of gluttony is nearing. Oh just to think of all the different types of foods and desserts. I am actually salivating right now. November is here...I love this time of year.

Last night went without a hitch. The children filled up on Mcd's and Candy. Now the fight to keep them out of all the candy has begun. Not too much to report. Have a great day!

Note to self:
Slow down and enjoy the day. Stop fixating on things you can not change. This is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it!
